Iberostar Rose Hall Suites All-Inclusive Jamaica – Adult Pool

I have to admit I was excited about the prospect of travelling to Jamaica. The weather, the food, not having to cook for two whole weeks – wohoo!!  What could be better.  Unfortunately there was a catch.

I was travelling with my mum and my almost two year old son.  What’s the problem you might ask.  Well my mum has limited mobility and whilst I admit to putting wonder woman through her paces I am not Hercules.

For our trip we all had hold luggage, plus all the stuff you travel with when you have a baby in tow.  A pushchair, car seat all bulky items. Thank god I had invested in a JL Childress Gate Check bag. This bag was such a life saver.  It comes in a convenient pouch slightly bigger than my hand.  This pushchair cover was sturdy and well made, it withstood the long haul flight to Jamaica, the journey to and from the hotel by coach and the return flight back to London.  The JL Gate Check bag fit my Silver Cross Pop Stroller perfectly.  It even had room for a few items of clothing I had to put in there because we were slightly overweight coming back to England.

The night before our flight we stayed at the Gatwick Premier Inn. We were travelling with First Choice holidays and were able to do twilight check-in as our flight was with Thomas Cook.  Twilight check-in helped to make the start of our trip a little less stressful, allowing us to check-in our hold luggage and pick up our boarding passes the night before we travelled.  An added bonus was that not all family members travelling had to be present in order to complete the twilight check-in. We were able to have a much needed lie in, when I say lie in I mean not getting up at the crack of dawn with a  baby in tow to get to the airport for the three hours prior to departure deadline for international flights.

It was so nice, to be able to have a relaxed breakfast before handing our hotel keys in at reception after collecting our luggage.

The flight was great, hardly an turbulence, the baby slept for most of it which is always a bonus.

We landed and cleared customs fairly quickly one of the advantages of travelling with my mum who has wheelchair assistance.

The transfer from the airport to the hotel took between 15-20 minutes and check-in was prompt, which is essential after an 8-hour flight.  First of all the hotel is extremely clean.

We had an ocean view room which was fantastic with a king size bed, which was super comfortable.  The cot was already in our room when we arrived.  The bed was so big that my son slept in the bed with me for the majority of our two week stay.  The room had a very comfortable seating area.  With a three seater sofa that could be converted into a bed, coffee table and desk with an additional chair.  Our room also had a balcony which was extremely spacious with two comfortable lounge chairs and a table. It became my go to spot to have my morning coffee and watch the sunrise.  The air conditioning in the room was great just the right temperature to make you feel comfortable without wanting to reach for the comforter in the middle of the night because it was COLD!

All suites have large bathrooms, each has a shower which can easily accommodate two people, double vanities with a huge mirror, toilet and nice sized soaking tub.  There are coffee making facilities, a fully stocked mini-fridge with soda and beer, the cost of which is included if you are staying all-inclusive. The fridge is stocked every other day but will be replenished if you contact housekeeping.

There is a large flat screen television with lots of satellite channels, my son was exceptionally happy with the disney channel, which is only one of the many children’s channels available.

Food & Bars

There was plenty of variety – with four specialty restaurants, one buffet restaurant, six bars/lounges not to mention the swim-up bars.

Children’s Facilities

The Iberostar Rose Hall Suites, Jamaica provided the best children’s activities we have experienced as a family, the kids club was great, the staff know every child by name which really made our son feel special. However, due to his age he was only two at the time of our visit we could not take advantage of some of the activities offered.

Our son enjoyed the lazy river or should I say watching everyone else enjoy the lazy river, he point blank refused to get in the inflatable ring with me. Next to Aunt Ruby’s buffet is a pirate ship play area for kids, with a small pool and water slides and a giant bucket that fills with water and dumps itself into the pool and then refills.

For older children the kid’s club has so much more to offer with a  range of events and activities for the children to do throughout the day and into the evening.  They offer arts and crafts, parties, discos, cinema night where the children get to dress up in their pyjamas and eat popcorn. The list of activities offered is quite extensive.  But for us the staff are what made the kid’s club, they are extremely attentive and friendly and made sure my son had a fantastic experience.

The reason why I can’t comment on the amount of channels available via the TV in the room is because we spent so much time at the beach.

There was always some where quiet to relax and find a lounge chair.  The sand was exceptionally soft, they must of swept the beach every morning because we did not encounter any seaweed.

The sea was crystal clear and gentle enough for a two year old to paddle in most days. Personally I think my son would of been quite happy just playing in the sand and building sandcastles and running in and out of the sea for the two weeks.

The Iberostar Rose Hall Suites was an extremely relaxing holiday destination, the staff were friendly and always greeted with you with a smile, nothing was too much trouble, just a great “can do” attitude.

We would recommend the resort to anyone especially those travelling with children, this resort shows that you really don’t have to compromise on quality just because you have kids.
